The Special Olympics Young Athletes was held at HPS yesterday. Young Athletes introduces basic sport skills, like running, kicking and throwing. Young Athletes offers families, teachers, caregivers and people from the community the chance to share the joy of sports with all children. What a fantastic day for the students and their families!
Mrs. Gray's classroom enjoyed time at the Octagon Barn last week. The students learned about the history of the barn, life cycle of bees, process of milking dairy cows and musical instruments. If you have never been to the Octagon Barn, you should check out the Fall Family Days on Sept. 7 & 8.
Last week many of our students were treated to a fun outdoor day at Camp Fish Tales. Camp Fish Tales provides a unique and exciting outdoor learning experience where individuals with special needs interact and develop skills that enhance their health, abilities, independence, and quality of life. For more information and camp opportunities, please see the link.

Mr. Lemuel's classroom has been very busy! They took a day trip to Bay City to see a show at the Planetarium and then enjoyed a delicious lunch at Grandpa Tony's. Bowling at Brentwood was also on the agenda for the students. I think their smiles show what a great time was had by all!
Our very own Chef Zehnder has won the Excellence in Education Award from the Michigan Lottery! Chef does a phenomenal job with our Culinary Arts program here at the TTC, and our students benefit from his passion daily. Congrats, Chef!

The TTC recently had two outstanding instructors recognized for their years of service as advisors of their respective student organizations. Mrs. Olson was presented an award at the DECA State Conference for her 20 years as the TTC DECA advisor. Ms. Schuette was presented an award at the Business Professionals of America Conference for her 25 years as the TTC BPA advisor. We are so fortunate to have dedicated instructors like these two working with our students on a daily basis!
SpringFest was a hit! If you were not able to attend in person, here are some highlights of the performance. More pictures to come

Our Nursing students are hosting a blood drive today and the turnout has been great so far!
What a difference a day makes when it comes to Michigan weather. Tuesday our students enjoyed 70+ degree weather and soaked up the sunshine. Wednesday they were inside with below freezing temperatures and wind. A 50 degree drop in temperature and windy conditions is a big change over 24 hours.
